Description
This high-quality handmade chess and backgammon board is made with unique Iranian art and originality.
The backgammon is made of natural clams and is drawn from traditional Iranian paintings also the chessboard is decorated with wood art (Khatamkari), which is an original Iranian painting (Negargari).
The inlay itself is made of coloured wood and brass wire with silk thread or polyester.
The Backgammon beads are made of wood and decorated with the original art of Persian woodcarving(Khatam).
Backgammon is believed to have originated at around 3,000 B.C in Mesopotamia in the Persian empire which is present-day Iran, Iraq and Syria.
The history of chess goes back almost 1500 years. The classical research about the origin of chess concentrated on investigating written and archaeological evidence resulting in opinions about the Indian/Persian one of the Chinese origin of the game. The available evidence was however not sufficient for a convincing theory. so the question about the origin of chess still has to be considered open. But it is clear that Iranians are very fond of this game from the past to the present.
